Solar silicon production

The production of solar grade silicon for solar photovoltaic cell production is finally getting close to the consumption rate by module producers. When the latter reaches and passes the former then the prices should finally begin to come down a bit. (Thanks to Jim Fraser at The Energy Blog.)

Sunrise

First post to the weblog, with at least two years of information backlog to upload as well as everything we'll find in the future. There is quite a bit in the backlog, but the future of solar power in Southern California looks bright.

I'm about to leave for a tour of a residential solar installation in Studio City (see photo), and will get more info uploaded here in short order.

The tour today is nearly the same one I did in May 2007 (earlier this year). With the UCLA Extension Solar Power Design class and instructor Rod Bergen, I'll be touring the Riemer house and its solar arrary. (Pictures here.)
